Bay Stingray
(Myliobatis californica)
Myliobatis Stingrays should be added to very large aquariums with wide open swim areas and a good filter system. Stingrays also require a fine sand bed as they may partially bury themselves in the sand, concealing themselves from predators. Stingrays may be sensitive to copper, do not treat aquarium with copper products. Provide Stingrays with a diet rich in meaty based foods. They are social among their own species. Females tend to be larger than males. Ensure a tight fitting lid as Stingrays may jump.
Bat Ray are also sometimes known as the Eagle Ray. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Bat Ray are dark brown to black in color with a white belly. Bat Ray's wingspan can grow to slightly more than 5' .
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 1000 gallons or larger for this species.
