Round Stingray
(Urobatis halleri)
Urobatis Stingrays should be added to very large aquariums with wide open swim areas and a good filter system. Stingrays also require a fine sand bed as they may partially bury themselves in the sand, concealing themselves from predators. Stingrays may be sensitive to copper, do not treat aquarium with copper products. Provide Stingrays with a diet rich in meaty based foods. They are social among their own species. Ensure a tight fitting lid as Stingrays may jump.
Round Stingray are also sometimes known as the Haller's Round Ray or the Little Round Stingray. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Round Stingrays are quite lovely with a brown to gray background color, pale yellow spots with a white to yellow belly, some species can even appear black. Round Stingray can grow to slightly more than 12".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 100 gallons or larger for this species.
