Barbouri Seahorse, Male
(Hippocampus barbouri)
Seahorses should be added to aquariums with plenty of rock work and plenty of swim room. Seahorses are slow swimmers, ensure the aquarium is free of anemones. Be sure to adjust waterflow for seahorses as they will require low waterflow. House Seahorses with other peaceful and slow moving tank mates. Seahorses are able to change colors depending on their surroundings. Females will deposit their eggs into the males pouch, approximately 14 days later the male will give birth to tiny little Seahorse replicas. Feed a diet of enriched live juvenile Brine shrimp, frozen mysis and rotifers multiple times daily.
Barbouri Seahorse are also sometimes known simply as Barbour's Seahorse. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Barbouri Seahorse are generally white to a light yellow or a tan color with red to brown spots and stripes around its snout. Barbouri Seahorse can grow to almost 6".
