Coral Cat Shark
(Atelomycterus marmoratus)
Atelomyterus Sharks should only be added to very large aquariums with a fine sand bed. Rockwork with plenty of caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for resting. Sharks lack airbladders instead they have two lobed liver that maintains their buoyancy. Sharks have a keen sense of smell and eyesight as well as renewable teeth. The are sensitive to both electric impulses and copper maintain aquarium with neither present. Sharks require a diet rich in meaty based foods. Do not house with larger, more aggressive fish as sharks can be easily picked at.
Coral Cat Shark are also sometimes known simply as Marbled Shark. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Coral Cat Sharks have an all over dark body, white belly with light colored spots and stripes and white tips on their dorsal fin. Coral Cat Shark can grow to almost 28".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 180 gallons or larger for this species.
