Guitar Shovelnose Ray

Rhinobatos Guitarfish should be added to very large aquariums with wide open swim areas and a good filter system. Guitarfish also require a fine sand bed as they may partially bury themselves in the sand, concealing themselves from predators. Guitarfish may be sensitive to copper, do not treat aquarium with copper products. Provide Guitarfish with a diet rich in meaty based foods. They are social among their own species. Ensure a tight fitting lid as Guitarfish may jump.

Guitar Shovelnose are also sometimes known as the Atlantic Guitarfish. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Guitar Shovelnose have tiny white spots over a gray, olive, or chocolate brown body color. Guitar Shovelnose can grow to slightly more than 30".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 300 gallons or larger for this species.
