Striped Shrimpfish
(Aeoliscus strigatus)
Shrimpfish are also closely related to pipefish. Aeoliscus Shrimpfish should be added to aquariums with plenty of rockwork, caves and ledges large enough to hide in. They will also require a sand bed preferably with plenty of macroalgae containing naturally occurring live foods. Shrimpfish swim with their heads pointed down looking for benthic prey. They will require peaceful tank mates as they are shy fish and should be maintained in groups of 5 or more. Shrimpfish will require live foods if not readily available such as Mysis, Brine, Glass/Grass Shrimp or Black Worms.
Striped Shrimpfish are also sometimes known as the Razorfish or Coral Shrimpfish. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Striped Shrimpfish generally are a white color although somewhat variable and dark stripes running through its eyes and snout. Striped Shrimpfish can grow to almost 6".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
