Yellowfin Soapfish Snapper
(Diploprion drachi)
Add Soapfish to well established aquariums with plenty of caves, overhangs and ledges for hiding. They will consume any fish or invertebrate they can fit in their mouths but generally leave coral alone. Provide a diet rich in meaty based foods once daily. Shy and may not readily accept prepared foods when first added to the aquarium. Try feeding enriched live adult Brine, Glass/Grass Shrimp or Black Worms to entice a feeding response. Soapfish can release a toxin call grammistin when threatenedd or die that looks like soap.
Yellowfin Soapfish are also sometimes known as Yellowface Soapfish. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Yellowfin Soapfish generally are a light lilac colored body, yellow forehead and black dorsal. Yellowfin Soapfish can grow to almost 6".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 75 gallons or larger for this species.
