Six Line Wrasse
(Pseudocheilinus hexataenia)
Pseudocheilinops Wrasse are small, shy and secretive fish generally found among heavy coral growth. Pseudocheilinops Wrasse should be added to a large well established aquarium with plenty of swimroom as they are open water swimmers. . Provide plenty of rockwork with cracks, caves and crevices for hiding. Pseudocheilinops can be kept with other peaceful tank mates but only 1 male per aquarium. Wrasse are hermaphrodites meaning they start as juveniles/females but at some point in their life may turn into a male. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as they may jump.
The Six Line Wrasse are also sometimes known as the Six Banded Wrasse. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Six Line Wrasse coloration may vary depending upon maturity, collection area or breeding period. Males have a red body with six dark blue horizontal stripes. Females will have a subdued color and smaller size. Six Line Wrasse can grow to a little over 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 55 gallons or larger for this species.
