Chambered Nautilus

(Nautilus pompilius)

Nautiluses inhabit deep-sea environments, often found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific region. They prefer the depths of several hundred meters, where they can be found swimming using jet propulsion or floating using their buoyant shells. Nautiluses are carnivorous and primarily feed on small fish, crustaceans, and other marine organisms. They use their tentacles to capture prey and bring it to their beak-like mouth. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with invertebrates, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.

Nautilus pompilius are also sometimes known as Chambered Nautilus. They are not often seen in the aquarium trade. The outer shell of the Chambered Nautilus is typically pale, featuring a series of brown stripes. The coloration and patterns on the shell can vary. The animal inside the shell has soft, pale, and colorless flesh. They can grow up to 10".
