Hermit Crabs should be added to established aquariums with plenty of rockwork with, cracks, caves and crevices for grazing. Generally can be found in most reef areas. Hermit crabs are good scavengers if insufficient algae exists supplement with algae wafers. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications. Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs are great for beginner hobbyists as they are easy to care for and peaceful tank mates. Be sure to provide a variety of different sized shells as crabs grow they will seek a new larger home.
The Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab is also known as the Scarlet Leg Hermit or Red Legged Hermit Crab. Scarlet Reef Hermit Crab are very valuable additions to and aquarium as they help to rid aquariums of nuisance algae and detritus. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs have bright red bodies with yellow eyes. Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs can grow to 1.5".
