Beaubrummel Damselfish
(Stegastes flavilatus)
Stegastes Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of algae covered rock work with caves and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. A diet of plant based foods which include Spirulina and Nori should be provided several times daily. These Damselfish can be highly aggressive and territoral careful consideration will need to be given before adding to the aquarium. Only one Stegastes should be added to the aquarium. House with larger fish that are not easily harassed.
The Beaubrummel Damselfish are also known simply as Beaubrummel Gregory. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Beaubrummel Damselfish juveniles and adults will have color differences. Juveniles are very colorful and quite attractive with a bright yellow body, the top most of its body and dorsal are a colorful blue and a black spot on its caudal peduncle. As the fish matures their colors will begin to fade. They can grow to almost 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
