Yellowtip Damselfish
(Stegastes pictus)
Stegastes Damselfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of algae covered rock work with caves and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. A diet of plant based foods which include Spirulina and Nori should be provided several times daily. These Damselfish can be highly aggressive and territoral careful consideration will need to be given before adding to the aquarium. Only one Stegastes should be added to the aquarium. House with larger fish that are not easily harassed.
The Yellowtip Damselfish are also known simply as Yellowtip Demoiselle. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Yellowtip Damselfish are quite stunning, bright yellow pectoral, caudal fins and gill covers against a dark brown body color. They can grow to almost 4".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
