Mangrove Seed Pod

(Rhizophora sp.)

Rhizophora Mangrove trees are primarily found in tropical and subtropical coastal regions around the world. They thrive in intertidal zones where freshwater from rivers and saltwater from the ocean mix. These environments are characterized by muddy or sandy substrates. Mangroves are an important part of the eco system. They provide nursery habitats for various marine species, their root systems stabilize coastal sediments and protect shorelines, filter pollutants from runoff and store carbon helping to mitigate climate change. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with invertebrates, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.

Rhizophora Mangroves are also sometimes known as Red Mangrove Trees. These are somewhat commonly collected for the aquarium trade. Mangroves play a role in stabilizing the coastlines, filtering water and providing habitat for marine organisms. They are mainly green but do have some red on them. Mangroves can grow up to 40 feet.
