Ultra Premium Tiger Maxima Clam

Tridacna Clams should be added to well established aquariums with a sandy or small gravel bottomed aquarium. They should also be provided strong lighting, good water flow and the addition of calcium, strontium and iodine for long term success. Tridacna Clams have the ability to detect light changes with the eye spots on their mantles outer edge. Tridacna Clams receive most of their nutrients from photosynthesis. They also filter the aquarium water for small particles but will benefit from small pieces of meaty foods as well as phytoplankton. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications and are sensitive to salinity changes. Never forcefully remove a clam if it has attached itself as it will cause damage to their foot.

The Ultra Premium Tiger Maxima Clam is also known as the Rugose Clam. Every clam will have a unique color and pattern however most Maxima Clams will be purple, blue, green or pink with Ultra Premium colors being the most intense coloration. The Ultra Premium Tiger Maxima Clam has beautiful intense colors with tiger like stripes. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Ultra Premium Tiger Maxima Clams will have a smooth base with flutes and can bore into substrates to attach itself. Maxima clams are moderately difficult in the home aquarium monitor closely for the best health. Maxima Clams can grow to 16".
