Brown Blotch Babylonia Snail

(Babylonia zeylanica / areolata)

Babylonia Snails are native to the Indo-Pacific region, including areas such as the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the western Pacific Ocean. They inhabit shallow sandy or muddy substrates in coastal areas, where they burrow into the substrate for protection and hunting. Babylonia snails are carnivorous predators that primarily feed on small crustaceans, worms, and other small prey that they detect using their siphon. Provide them with a sandy substrate that allows them to burrow and exhibit their natural behavior. These snails are generally peaceful and can be kept in community aquariums with other compatible tank mates. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with invertebrates, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.

Babylonia Snails are also known as Brown Blotch Babylonia Snails. They are occasionally collected for the aquarium trade. These snails typically have a light to medium brown or tan-colored shell with darker brown or black spiral bands. The shell is glossy and usually quite smooth in texture. The coloration and banding on the shell can vary somewhat among individuals. Their shells typically reach a maximum size of about 2 to 2.5 inches.
