Fighting Conch

(Strombus gibberulus)

Strombus Conch should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rockwork and a deep sand bed for grazing and stirring up the sand. They are generally seen in shallow areas with turtle grass beds. If insufficient algae be sure to provide dried algae or vegetable based pellets. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications and changes to salinity. Strombus Conch generally hunt for food during the day and sleeps at night. Strombus Conch are great for beginner hobbyists as they are easy to care for, peaceful and reef safe.

The Fighting Conch is also known simply as Conch. Fighting Conch are very valuable additions to and aquarium as they are very good scavengers of algae. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Fighting Conch shells are generally brown, tan green and white. Fighting Conch can grow up to 4".
