Hymenocera Shrimp should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rockwork with ledges and a sandy bottom for hunting and hiding. Generally found under ledges hunting for sea stars feeding on their legs. Provide a diet rich in meaty foods and live Sea Stars of the genus Linckia. Hymenocera Shrimp do not tolerate copper medications and are sensitive to salinity changes. Magnesium and Iodine are important components for shrimp as they need these for molting. Hymenocera Shrimp are easy to care for, peaceful and reef safe with the exception of Sea Stars.
The Harlequin Shrimp is also known simply as the Eastern Harlequin or Clown Shrimp. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Harlequin Shrimp can be a bit territorial and should be kept singly or as a mated pair. The Harlequin Shrimp are white with light blue spots, female spots tend to be slightly larger than the males. Harlequin Shrimp can grow to 2".
