Saron Shrimp
(Saron sp.)
Saron shrimp are typically found in marine environments, particularly in shallow coastal waters and coral reefs. They can inhabit various substrates, including sand, rubble, and rocky areas. They are primarily detritivores and scavengers feeding on decaying organic matter, algae, small organic particles, and other debris present in their environment. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications and are sensitive to salinity changes. Magnesium and Iodine are important components for shrimp as they need these for molting.
Saron Shrimp are also sometimes known as Mantis Shrimp. They are occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Saron Shrimp typically have a body that is somewhat translucent with various coloration. They may exhibit shades of white, green, brown, and red. Their coloration helps them blend into their coral reef and sandy habitats. They can grow close to 3" but their size may depend on their environment.
