Green Saron Shrimp
(Saron marmoratus)
Saron shrimp are typically found in marine environments, particularly in shallow coastal waters and coral reefs. They can inhabit various substrates, including sand, rubble, and rocky areas. They are primarily detritivores and scavengers feeding on decaying organic matter, algae, small organic particles, and other debris present in their environment. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper medications and are sensitive to salinity changes. Magnesium and Iodine are important components for shrimp as they need these for molting.
Saron marmoratus Shrimp are also sometimes known as Saron Shrimp. They are occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Saron Shrimp have a marbled or mottled appearance with a combination of colors that can include shades of brown, green, white, and orange. Their coloration is often cryptic and helps them blend into their sandy or rocky habitats. They can grow close to 5" but their size may depend on their environment.
