Banded Pencil Urchin

Eucidaris urchins are found in a variety of marine habitats, ranging from shallow coastal areas to deeper oceanic environments. They often inhabit rocky or coral reef substrates and are typically found in areas with crevices and hiding spots. Eucidaris urchins are primarily herbivorous, feeding on algae and other plant material. Urchins may disturb substrate and other tank inhabitants. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with sea urchins, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.

Eucidaris Urchins are also sometimes known as Ten Lined or Banded Pencil Urchins. They are not commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Eucidaris Urchins are typically dark brown or gray to black in color. Their spines may be a lighter color brown to red color which creates a striking contrast to their dark body. They can grow up to 4".
