Pincushion Urchin
(Lytechinus variegatus)
Lytechinus Urchins should be added to well established aquariums with sand and plenty of algae covered rockwork with ledges, caves and crevices. Lytechinus Urchins do not tolerate copper medications and are sensitive to water parameter changes especially high nitrates. If sufficient algae is not available supplement with dried seaweed. Lytechinus Urchins are considered to be easy to care for, peaceful and reef safe. Urchins may disturb substrate and other tank inhabitants. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with sea urchins, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.
